People thinking that Hal Jordan being gay, Ryan Reynolds having to portray Hal Jordan as gay, or Alan Scott not being a major character rustle my jimmies.
Alan Scott’s an important character. He may not be a member of the Green Lantern Corps, but he was the first Green Lantern and founder of the Justice Society. This is the guy who wrote the book on willpower!
And no, DC reinventing Alan Scott as gay doesn’t mean they’re going to constantly make “his weakness is wood!” and “he’s flaming!” jokes.

I think I need to stop following the Green Lantern tag. It gives me a headache. Some of the recent comments (paraphrased):
“I’m glad GL is gay now, but why is he white again? I watched JLU and he was black…”
“Now Ryan Reynold’s costume makes more sense.”
“I am all for a gay Green Lantern but that means Ryan Reynolds is gay now. :(“
“I’m glad a gay GL is starting a trend. Now Robin can come out as gay!”
“Sooo Spiderman is black and Green Lantern is gay. Welcome to Obama’s America.”
“I don’t see why DC is making GL gay…they already have Batwoman.”
“[Alan Scott] He is now DC’s first major, openly gay super hero. BUT THEY DID NOT CHANGE HIM TO THE RAINBOW LANTERN HE IS STILL JUST GREEN.”
“So can we have a new Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds that explores his newfound open homosexuality?”
Unpopular opinion?
“The Avengers is the best superhero movie of all time!”
“Watchmen and Kick-Ass still exist, guys.”
